EMTP 1204 - Paramedic Clinical II


Description
During this clinical phase, students will perform advanced patient assessments on patients. Some of the skills performed include: Endotracheal intubations, IV, Medication administration, observe child birth, and other procedures covered in class. This time is performed in the hospital setting.

Pre-Requisite
Admission into the Paramedic Sciences program.

Learning Outcomes
  • Upon completion of this course the student will: Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of a paramedic perform a proper patient assessment and determine the medical diagnosis needed to formulate a patient care plan and execute that plan on a given patient.
  • Perform the acts necessary to function as a lead paramedic on the scene of a traumatic injury accident
  • Formulate a care plan for a given trauma patient and execute that plan in a timely manner
  • Interpret vital signs and other diagnostic information into a working patient diagnosis that will allow the student to provide lifesaving emergency care to that patient.
  • Judge the patient care being given by First Responders and EMTs and determine the worthiness of that treatment.
  • Apply a standard treatment plan as outlined in the Regional protocols for a given emergency situation on a real patient.
  • Recognize scene hazards and patient hazards and create a plan of action to keep him/herself safe as well as the crew.
