FIRE 1114 - Fire Fighter II


Description
Continuation of the knowledge and skills necessary for students to be certified as a Firefighter at the second level of certification based upon NFPA Standard 1001 - Firefighter Professional Qualifications. Upon successful completion of FIRE 1104  and FIRE 1114, a representative of the Arkansas Fire Academy will test students.

Pre-Requisite
Completion of FIRE 1104  with a grade greater than or equal to C.

Learning Outcomes
Students completing this course will:

  • Demonstrate understanding of knowledge that is criterion-referenced and required for standards outlined in NFPA Standard 1001. This will be demonstrated by successful completion  of written exams for each unit of study and a final exam.
  • Demonstrate successful mastery of skills required for standards outlined in NFPA Standard 1001. This will be demonstrated by performance based exam for each unit of study, and  by a final performance based exam.
  • Acknowledge the necessity to apply his or herself, as to develop a competent level of knowledge and skill necessary, recognizing the nature of the life-saving importance inherent within this field of study.

 Assessments 

  • 1. Written exams passed with a minimum 70% over all cognitive objectives based on NFPA Standard 1001, Firefighter II level.
  • 2. Observation and clinical/practical evaluation of mastery of all psychomotor skills required based on NFPA Standard 1001, Firefighter II level.
  • 3. Observation of students synthesizing the knowledge and skills, along with the concept of the importance of a qualified entry-level Firefighter and the life and property saving aspects of the profession.
