EMTP 1021 - Intro to Paramedic Clinical Description During this course, students will submit the required paperwork that is required prior to doing any field and clinical rotations. Students will do orientation time at their primary and secondary EMS service and primary Emergency Department clinical site. After being cleared with instructor lab checkoffs, the student will begin performing advanced-level skills and assessments under the close supervision of a paramedic preceptor, nurse, or NWACC faculty. (Minimum of 50 hours plus a minimum number of skills to be performed).
Pre-Requisite Admission into the Paramedic Sciences program.

Learning Outcomes
- Upon successful completion of EMTP 1021 the student will:
- Be familiar with how to register and sign up for their assigned clinicalsite
- Be familiar with and know how to access equipment in the Emergency Department such as IV supplies, oxygen administration devises, and emergency airway supplies.
- Know how to attach the monitoring equipment to a patient in the emergency room and ambulance
- Know the station tones for the ambulance they are assigned to and be on the ambulance, seat belted in within the mandatory 2 minute or less timeframe.
- Learn the names of the nursing supervisors at the ER they are assigned to.
- Know how to use FISDAP for scheduling, canceling clinical if ill.
- Be familiar with and understand the Health Profession Clinical Manual
- Be familiar with and understand the EMS Clinical Manual
- Will attend a minimum of 25+ hours on the ambulance including the alternate site
- Will attend a minimum of 25+ hours in the emergency room
- Will begin starting IVs and administration of medication to patients in the clinical setting as approved by the clinical coordinator

Standard Practices Grades are derived from student participation in turning in all assignments for preparation to attend clinical setting and attending clinical rotations as scheduled with proper clothing.
